Rice Creek West Regional Trail between Highway 65 and Old Central in Fridley will be closed May 12th and 15th for Trail Construction "Weather Depending".  For more information please contact the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department at 763-757-3920.

Located in the City of Fridley, Locke County Park can be accessed from the University Avenue service road (which runs in front of Columbia Arena) just south of 73rd Avenue.  The park's entrance road runs along the north side of Columbia Arena.  Rice Creek West Regional Trail runs through Locke County Park.

The park offers users many facilities and attractions within easy walking distance.  The new picnic pavilion #1 and restrooms are very close to the play equipment and paved hiking/biking trail.  The trail traverses down into the scenic Rice Creek valley.  Picnic pavilion #2 is in the western portion of the park and offers seating for up to 20 people.

Picnic Pavilions (call 763-757-3920 to reserve)

Pavilion #1
Capacity: 150
Electricity: 7 outlets (3 - 20 amp circuits)
Description: The newest large-group picnic pavilion in the park system!!  The restroom building is only yards away from the pavilion.  The pavilion is the eastern shelter in the park.

Pavilion #2
Capacity: 20
Electricity: No
Description: This shelter is 50 yards south of the first (westernmost) parking lot.  Shaded by mature trees to the south and paved trail access to the north (as seen in the photo).

Picnic Pavilion Rental Fees
The Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department offers over 30 pavilions throughout the county that can be exclusively reserved.  In order to reserve a pavilion, please contact the parks and recreation office by calling 763-757-3920.

Reservations must be paid in full at the time of the reservation.  Fees for picnic pavilions are as follows:

NOTE: The large group pavilions (those that seat 100 people or more) have a
minimum fee of $120 weekdays and $150 weekends for groups of 149 people or less.
Regular fees apply to groups of 150 or larger.

Directions

From Minneapolis: Take I-35W north to I-694 west.  Follow 694 west to University Avenue and turn right.  Follow University Avenue north three miles to 73rd Avenue and turn right.  Follow 73rd Avenue 200 feet east to the service road and turn right.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
From St. Paul: Take I-35E north to I-694 west.  Follow 694 west to University Avenue and turn right.  Follow University Avenue north three miles to 73rd Avenue and turn right.  Follow 73rd Avenue 200 feet east to the service road and turn right.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
From Columbia Heights: Take University Avenue north to 73rd Avenue and turn right.  Follow 73rd Avenue 200 feet east to the service road and turn right.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
From Ham Lake, Blaine, Andover: Take Highway 65 (Central Avenue) south to 73rd Avenue and turn right.  Follow 73rd Avenue two miles to the service road before University Avenue and turn left.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
From Anoka, Coon Rapids: Follow Coon Rapids Boulevard south to University Avenue.  Take University Avenue south six miles to 73rd Avenue and turn left.  Follow 73rd Avenue 200 feet east to the service road and turn right.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
From Lino Lakes: Take Highway 242 (Main Street) west to Highway 65 (Central Avenue).  Take Highway 65 (Central Avenue) south to 73rd Avenue and turn right.  Follow 73rd Avenue two miles to the service road before University Avenue and turn left.  Go south three blocks and turn left at the entrance sign.  The entrance road is 1/2 mile long and runs east past Columbia Arena's north side.
