Anoka County Park System Swimming Beaches

Anoka County is home to some of the finest sand beaches in the metropolitan area.  They are located in Oak Grove (Lake George), Linwood (Island Lake), Columbus (Coon Lake), and Centerville (Centerville Beach).  The beach at Lake George has a new concession stand with all your favorite snacks.  Centerville and Lake George beaches have creative playgrounds and beach volleyball courts.  These quaint sites are great places to cool off in a natural setting.  Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from early June through late August.

NOTE: All of the beaches in the Anoka County Park System are unguarded.
Active supervision of children is required.

Year 2007 Outdoor Swimming Lessons provided by the
Emma B. Howe YMCA

The YMCA will be offering three (3) sessions of swimming lessons at Lake George Regional Park:

• June 18th through June 28th

• July 9th through July 19th

• July 30th through August 9th

Classes offered include the Pike, Eel, Ray, Starfish & Polliwog, for children ages 3-6.

All sessions will run Monday through Thursday, with make up days for cancellations due to inclement weather on the Friday of that week.

Registration:

• Registration for all sessions will start May 28th.

• The fee for each child per session is $50.00.

• All registrations will be taken through the Northtown YMCA located in Coon Rapids.

• Registrations for all sessions of lessons will be taken over the phone and require credit card payment over the phone.
