    Summer Concert Series - The concerts, coordinated by the Coon Rapids Art Commission, take place each Thursday night at 7 pm at pavilion 3, rain or shine. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy an evening of free entertainment. Anoka County Parks waives the vehicle entrance permit fee for the evening.

  • Ramps
    An edible species of wild onion. One of the earliest wild edibles to emerge. Early settlers relied on their restorative qualities after a long hard winter.

    Blood Root
    A spring ephemeral that flowers before its leaves appear. It is named for its blood-red sap color which was once used as a dye by Native Americans.

    Osprey
    Ospreys nest along the Mississippi River. You can often see them diving into the water to catch fish in their talons and bringing it back to their nest to feed their young.

    Peregrine Falcon
    Peregrines are a crow-sized falcon. They hunt other birds and are fast fliers who can reach speeds of up to 200 miles per hour while diving!

    Carp
    A popular fish to catch in the Mississippi River. An invasive fish, they were intentionally introduced as a game fish in the 1880s. They are now one of the most disruptive and damaging aquatic species. However, carp is one of the most widely eaten fish in the world.

    Mink
    Mink are found around lakes and rivers. They are nocturnal, meaning they come out at night. Mink are also great swimmers and can swim up to 100 feet under water.
