COON RAPIDS DAM REGIONAL PARK

Mississippi River Trail re-route

Due to ongoing erosion along the Mississippi, the MRT will be re-aligned farther away from the river’s edge. The MRT re-route project includes removing approximately 1,000 feet of trail near the eroding bank of the Mississippi and constructing a new trail farther away from the river. During construction a portion of the MRT will be closed and a detour route along East River Road is provided – see trail closure and detour exhibits. The construction is anticipated to begin in early June 2026.
