Due to erosion and slope failure from flooding, the bridge over Coon Creek at the confluence of the Mississippi River and trails near the creek are closed. Please use this detour route.

Construction Update - September 2025
Bridge, Culvert, and Trail Construction
Reconstruction of the bridge, culvert, and surrounding trails is nearly complete. The following final tasks are still underway, construction completion is anticipated mid-October:

  • Minor pavement work at select trail intersections

  • Installation of railing and concrete gutter at the culvert crossing

  • Bridge approach railing installation

  • Replacement of concrete sidewalk at the Cenaiko Lake parking lot

Coon Creek Restoration Project

  • Construction phase is now complete

  • Restoration efforts are currently in progress

  • Additional tree plantings are scheduled for later this fall

Phase 1 - Construction work above the creek bank complete.
Phase 2 - Work will occur later in 2025 when site conditions and regulatory compliance allows.
